INVESTING IN OUR STUDENTS

As a father, and as the MPP of Milton, I understand the concerns of parents when they tell me about overcrowding in our schools. It is a problem that was neglected and allowed to go on for far too long.

Milton is unique: we are one of the fastest growing communities in Ontario. As we continue to grow and change, so do the needs of families and children. Strong action is required to make sure your needs are met, and that is exactly what our government is delivering.

It was an honour to join Premier Ford, and the Minister of Education, Stephen Lecce, to announce $77.7 million for three new schools in Milton, including a new Catholic high school and elementary school, along with a new public elementary school.

These new schools are just some examples of how we are supporting our students. In just over two years, we have witnessed the creation of the new SW #1 high school at Bronte and St. Laurent; taken students out of portables by expanding Bishop Reding; broken ground for a new French elementary school; and brought needed improvements to St. Peter’s elementary.

Our government will continue to make historic investments into education, because we are building more than new schools, we are building new opportunities for our kids to achieve their dreams. From modernizing our curriculum, to revitalizing our classrooms, we are investing in our students to give them a better learning environment.

I will never stop working for the families and children of Milton. Our government will keep building new classrooms, new childcare spaces, and new ways for our children to succeed. Whether it is reaching for the stars, or reaching for new possibilities, we will always be there to make sure our students reach their full potential.
