MPP GILL PROVIDES IMPORTANT REID ROAD QUARRY UPDATE

MILTON – Parm Gill, Member of Provincial Parliament for Milton, is proud to announce that the Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry, John Yakabuski, has echoed MPP Gill’s call, and written a letter to the Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, Jeff Yurek, to request an Environment Assessment be completed for the proposed Reid Road quarry site.

“I am very pleased Minister Yakabuski is joining me, and our community, in calling for an Environment Assessment for the proposed Reid Road quarry. This is great news and a massive step forward,” said MPP Gill. “Although the pandemic has shifted timelines and deadlines, my commitment against this quarry application is unwavering,” MPP Gill added.

Members of the community had registered over 1,100 formal objections during the public consultation period. These objections ranged from concerns regarding fly-rock, increased traffic and most notably, blasting below the water table. The potential risks associated with blasting below the water table could negatively affect local water supply.

“I will continue to ensure the community has a strong voice at Queen’s Park and will work with the Ministry of Environment to provide them any information needed to move forward with an Environmental Assessment,” stated MPP Gill.
