MPP PARM GILL CELEBRATES OFFICIAL GROUNDBREAKING FOR NEW MILTON HIGH SCHOOL

MILTON, ON – Today, the Member of Provincial Parliament for Milton, Parm Gill, attended a groundbreaking ceremony for a new secondary school that will be located near the intersection of Bronte Street South and Britannia Road in Milton.

On July 18, 2019, the Ministry of Education provided Halton District School Board with an Approval to Proceed to tender the construction of a new secondary school for $42.5 million.

“As a father with two kids currently enrolled in the Halton District School Board, I understand how important it is to make investments in education,” said MPP Gill. “Today, we are not only building a new school, we are building new opportunities for the children of Milton.”

The school, which is anticipated to open in the Fall of 2021, will educate 1,200 students each year, and feature 21-century teaching layouts, air conditioning with individual classroom controls, triple gym, bus lay-by, and a student drop-off area. It will also have a Community Pathways Program hub, which will accommodate two classrooms with a common kitchen area and sensory rooms.

“Milton is a growing community, and the Government of Ontario is supporting this growth,” stated MPP Gill. “With our government’s investments for CS Viamond, the expansion of Bishop Reding, and now, the new Milton SW 1 school, we are investing in schools and school improvements, because we want all children in Milton to achieve their full potential.”
