MILTON ON—Today, Parm Gill, MPP for Milton is honoured to announce another school for Milton. The Ontario Government is investing $17.9 million to build Milton #9 Catholic Elementary School to help more families in Milton.

This investment in Halton Catholic District School Board will support the creation of 671 student spaces as part of the Ontario Government’s commitment to building modern, accessible, and technologically connected schools.

“The new Milton #9 Catholic Elementary School is incredible news for our community,” said Parm Gill, Member of Provincial Parliament for Milton. “This investment will provide choice and flexibility for families and new opportunities for the children of Milton. I will continue to fight hard for our children to ensure they have adequate access to learning in our community”.

This is the seventh new school in Milton since 2018. The project is part of a provincewide investment of more than $600 million to support new schools and child care spaces.

“In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made safer schools a priority, which is why we continue to invest in modern and accessible learning spaces with improved ventilation,” said Stephen Lecce, Minister of Education. “This investment is part of our multiyear plan to build, expand, and update schools and child care spaces across our province. It will leave a lasting legacy that benefits working families for years to come.”

The investment is part of the Ontario government’s commitment to provide $14 billion to support school construction over ten years. There are currently more than 300 child care and education building-related projects in development across Ontario with more than 100 actively under construction.

“The announcement of funding for a new Catholic elementary school is wonderful news for our HCDSB community as it will help to alleviate enrolment pressures and support the growth we continue to experience in Milton,” said Marvin Duarte, Chair of the Halton Catholic District School Board and Milton Trustee. “We value the collaboration with MPP Parm Gill and his dedication to the needs of students and families in Milton.
