Ontario Government Building New School in Milton

MILTON ON – Today, Parm Gill, MPP for Milton announced that the new Rattlesnake Point Public School will be welcoming new students into its doors for the 2022-23 school year. This project is a part of Ontario’s ongoing efforts to build and improve local schools, with the province providing Halton DSB with $22.9 million to build the school in Milton.

Since 2018, the government has approved nine new schools and five expansions in Milton, including Rattlesnake Point Public School. This project will deliver over 900 student spaces during the 2022-23 school year.

Rattlesnake Point Public School was announced in September 2020, followed by an additional investment of $1.5 million in April 2022.

“The completion of the new Rattlesnake Point Public School is an incredible achievement for our community as we continue to support growth in Milton,” said Parm Gill, MPP for Milton. “This investment will ensure families and students have access to a quality learning environment in the years ahead.”

“Our government is investing $14 billion over ten years to build new schools, improve existing facilities and create child care spaces to ensure young people can reach their full potential,” said Stephen Lecce, Minister of Education. “By building Rattlesnake Point Public School as well as investing in tutoring and mental health supports for the year ahead, we are getting students in Milton back on track now and well into the future. While we make progress building this new school for Milton to support hard-working parents, we remain committed to keeping students in class this September in more normal classrooms with extra curriculars, sports, and clubs.”

“Under Premier Ford’s leadership, we’re building more state-of-the-art schools to support the needs of Ontario’s students, families and growing communities. By investing in innovative and modern learning spaces, we’re ensuring students have access to the quality education that will provide them with lifelong skills and education in a safe and healthy environment,” said Kinga Surma, Minister of Infrastructure. “These investments are one of the ways we’re delivering on our promise to build Ontario, with an infrastructure budget of more than $148 billion over the next decade.”

“The Halton District School Board is thrilled to be opening Rattlesnake Point Public School this school year – a new state-of-the-art school designed to provide students with 21st century learning opportunities and ensure the HDSB continues to grow alongside our communities,” says Curtis Ennis, Director of Education for the Halton District School Board. “As we near the first day of school, we look forward to welcoming students, staff and community to this new school and providing an exceptional educational experience that honours their unique and collective identities so we can continue to learn, grow and inspire, together”.
