ONTARIO IMPROVING SCHOOL IN MILTON

Milton ON—Today, Parm Gill, the MPP for Milton is pleased to announce another school expansion for Milton. The Ontario government is investing an additional $2 million to improve St. Kateri Tekakwitha, the former Milton #3 CSS, to help working families in Milton.

This investment in the Halton Catholic District School Board will support the creation of 69 student spaces as part of the Ontario Government’s commitment to building modern, accessible, and technologically connected schools for Ontario youth.

“The new addition at St. Kateri Tekakwitha CSS is great news for our community,” said Parm Gill, Member of Provincial Parliament for Milton. “This investment will provide choice and flexibility for families and new opportunities for the children of Milton. As we continue to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will ensure our children have a safe in person learning environment”.

In addition to the six new schools in Milton, this is the third school expansion since 2018. This project is part of a province wide investment of more than $600 million to support new school and child care spaces.

“In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made safer schools a priority, which is why we continue to invest in modern and accessible learning spaces with improved ventilation,” said Minister Lecce. “This investment is part of our multiyear plan to build, expand, and update schools and child care spaces across our province. It will leave a lasting legacy that benefits working families for years to come.”

“This additional funding will help us address some of the ongoing enrolment pressures we continue to experience in Milton and help us meet the growing needs of the students and families we serve”, said Marvin Duarte, Chair of the Halton Catholic School Board and Milton Trustee. “We value the collaboration and advocacy with MPP Parm Gill and are grateful for the ongoing support and commitment of the Ministry of Education through funding that allows us to build new schools that help us better serve the needs of our Milton students and families”.

The Ontario government has allocated more than $600 million to support ventilation improvements in schools across Ontario as part of its plans for a safe return to school. The Halton Catholic DSB has benefited from an investment of $7.2 million for ventilation improvements and has over 240 HEPA filter units in place.

Milton #3 CSS, to be named St. Kateri Tekakwitha CSS, will be located at Louis St. Laurent Avenue and Kennedy Circle East in Milton.
