ONTARIO REQUIRING ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT OF PROPOSED REID ROAD RESERVOIR QUARRY

MILTON – The Ontario government is committed to protecting local groundwater resources and is requiring James Dick Construction Ltd. to complete a project-specific environmental assessment for its proposed Reid Road Reservoir Quarry in Milton.

“The Ontario government takes environmental protection seriously and is listening to local concerns about the need for groundwater protection and additional consultation,” said Parm Gill, MPP for Milton. “That’s why the government is requiring an environmental assessment for this project prior to making any decisions.”

By following the detailed environmental assessment process, the Reid Road Reservoir Quarry project will be required to undergo additional consultation and further assessment of the potential environmental effects from the project, including the local groundwater, dust and any potential cumulative environmental effects.

Once the assessment is completed and submitted, the government will undertake a review and there will be an opportunity for the public to submit comments prior to a final decision being made.

The Ontario government remains committed to protecting our groundwater and environment for future generations.
