Ontario Working for Workers by Investing in Training for Good Jobs In Milton

Milton, ON — Today, Parm Gill, MPP for Milton, was pleased to announce that the Ontario government is working for workers by investing over $526,000 in Community Living North Halton. This funding will provide workers in Milton, with the training they need to pursue in- demand and well-paying jobs in our community.

“Community Living North Halton has been an integral part of our community here in Milton”, said Parm Gill, MPP for Milton. “I am proud that our government continues to invest in local organizations that help support our young people”.

This investment to Community Living North Halton will help people with developmental disabilities gain hands on experience needed to be successful.

“We are so grateful for the support of the Skills Development Fund” said Greg Edmiston, Executive Director. “This funding will provide the opportunity for students with developmental disabilities across Halton to access internships at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and Milton District Hospital, specifically designed to develop the skills necessary to be successful in future competitive employment”.

This initiative is supported through the government’s Skills Development Fund, which has provided over $200 million in funding for innovative projects that address challenges to hiring, training, or retraining workers during the pandemic.

“Our government is working for workers every day. Through our Skills Development Fund, we’re giving workers the training they need to fill in-demand jobs, earn bigger paycheques and advance in rewarding careers that make their families and communities stronger,” said Monte McNaughton, Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development. “Our government has a workers-first plan to deliver a stronger Ontario. As we build today for a better tomorrow, we need all hands-on deck. We’re leaving nobody behind and we’re getting it done.”
