Province reducing red tape and making vital investments

We’re working hard for all Ontarians, writes Parm Gill

The Legislature resumed late last month, and it is always an honour to represent our community.

It is a privilege that is not lost on me, and as always, I commit to being a strong voice for Milton at Queen’s Park.

Our government has introduced effective ways to reduce red tape and historic investments in public transit and continues to build our health-care system. We have accomplished a lot together, but our job is not yet done.

Since 2018, our government has been working hard to create effective ways to reduce red tape. We recently marked Ontario’s Red Tape Awareness Week, and since 2018 we’ve saved businesses $576 million in annual compliance costs — all while reducing Ontario’s total regulatory burden by 6.5 per cent.

This means less time filling out forms and less cost for renewing things like your license plate sticker.

As we continue to build on our progress, I am pleased to announce that our government is supporting public transit in Milton through the 2022-23 Ontario Gas Tax Program.

Milton has received $1,294,952 to support the expansion and improvement of public transit. We know that municipal transit systems are essential to the success of our local communities, and I am proud that our government is working hard to connect people and families to jobs, housing and wherever they need to go.

You spoke up, Ontario, and we listened. Our government recently announced our health-care plan —‘Your Health: A Plan for Connected and Convenient Care’ — which will deliver proper health services to people in our communities, improve access to care at home and access to mental health and addictions services, and, most importantly, keep you connected to health information 24/7 via Health811.

These past few years have highlighted the need to challenge the status quo in our health-care sector. I understand the importance of having improved access to health care, and I am proud that our province is taking a step in the right direction when it comes to providing the best care possible.
