CN INTERMODAL HUB & BUDGET CONSULTATIONS

It is an honour to have the opportunity to represent Milton at the Ontario legislature. It is a privilege to serve our community and commit to being a strong voice for Milton.

CN Intermodal Hub

I am proud to have taken swift action after assuming office regarding the proposed CN Intermodal Hub. Our government committed to standing with Miltonians on this issue, and have followed through with this commitment.

The Government of Ontario has filed arguments in Ontario Superior Court in support of the regional Municipality of Halton, the towns of Milton, Halton Hills and Oakville, the City of Burlington and the Halton Region Conservation Authority’s legal challenge of the Milton CN Intermodal Hub. The federal review panel was struck by the federal minister of the environment and climate change and the chair of the Canadian Transportation Agency to consider the environmental impacts of the project.

Currently, the federal review panel has yet to make any decision regarding the Intermodal Hub. The court challenge will proceed through the courts thereafter.

Budget Consultations

There are many steps that our government has taken in order to improve Ontario’s economic and social state, and will continue to clean up after 15 years of waste and mismanagement.

Last week, I had the privilege to host Finance Minister Victor Fedeli in Milton as part of our government’s budget consultations. Many Miltonians participated, and I was glad to listen to their ideas about reducing red tape, and ways to improve Milton and Ontario’s economy. Our government values these consultations and hope to continue to work with the people of Ontario to improve the quality of living in our great province.

I look forward to continue being a strong voice for Milton at Queen’s Park, and will keep you updated about our efforts regularly through this column in the Champion. I would also like to urge each and every one of you to take extra precaution during these cold winter months, make sure you are covered up and drive carefully on our roads. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our office at 905-878-1729.

I look forward to hearing from you!
