Ontario Investing in Seniors Active Living Centre in Milton

$51,438 investment in Seniors Active Living Centres in Milton helping more seniors stay healthy, active, and socially connected.


Today, Parm Gill, MPP for Milton, announced the annual funding for Seniors Active Living Centre (SALC) in Milton. These community hubs bring older adults aged 50 and over together and provides opportunities to participate in classes and activities, as well as other resources to support independent, healthy living.

“Proud to announce that the Milton Seniors Activity Centre is receiving over $51,000 to help our seniors keep fit, healthy, active, and connected to our community,’’ said Parm Gill, MPP for Milton. “By investing in Seniors Active Living Centre programs, we will be helping more older adults get the programs and services they need to live healthy, independent lives.”

This year, the Seniors Active Living Centre in Milton is receiving:

• Milton Seniors Activity Centre – $51,438.00
“The Milton Seniors’ Activity Centre is a pillar in our community that brings life learning, fitness, connection and health to many older adults.” Said Mayor Gord Krantz, Town of Milton. “We are grateful for this funding that will support seniors’ wellness with engagement workshops and equipment to support our programming and cafeteria.”

Across Ontario there is a network of almost 300 Seniors Active Living Centre programs supported by the province’s investment of more than $14 million dollars. “Seniors Active Living Centres are the action centres for our seniors all over Ontario,” said Hon. Raymond Cho, Ontario’s Minister for Seniors and Accessibility. “These Centres are a part of our community, and they help keep our seniors fit, active, healthy, socially connected close to home.”

Seniors Active Living Centre programs offer a wide variety of activities which can include fitness, healthy lifestyle and wellness classes, recreation, and social activities, and learning opportunities such as financial management, elder abuse prevention and volunteering.
